Bumper & Paint Repair in Charlotte

Mobile bumper and paint repair across Charlotte

Robert Crenshaw has been repairing bumpers in and around Charlotte for nearly 30 years. Send a couple of photos, get a quote, and he brings the shop to your driveway.

Most cosmetic damage in Charlotte is the everyday kind: a corner clipped in a parking lot, a scrape from a curb, a bumper that met a pole while backing out. None of it means the car is broken, but it is the first thing you notice every time you walk up to it. That is the work Robert does.

He works from a truck and trailer and does the repair where your car is parked, usually at your house. You text a photo or two, he sends back a quote, and you pick a morning. If you want the full sequence before you reach out, how it works lays it out step by step.

Charlotte at a glance: roads, homes, and parking

Charlotte is the largest city in North Carolina and the county seat of Mecklenburg County. It is a big, spread-out city, and the interstates shape most of the driving: I-77 runs north and south through the middle, I-85 cuts across from the southwest to the northeast, I-277 loops around Uptown, and I-485 circles the whole city.

Away from the center, most of Charlotte is single-family neighborhoods with driveways, broken up by commercial corridors like Independence Boulevard (US 74), South Boulevard and Providence Road. Closer in, around Uptown and South End, apartments and parking decks take over.

That split matters for mobile repair. A driveway in a neighborhood is about as good a workspace as Robert can ask for. A spot on the fourth level of a deck is not.

How at-home repair works in Charlotte

Robert's setup is simple: a home with a driveway, a power outlet he can reach, and a car that is reasonably clean. Some townhome communities work too, depending on where you can park and whether the HOA is fine with it. Text him a photo of where the car will be and he will tell you straight away whether it works.

What does not work is a parking deck. The truck, the trailer and his lighting do not fit under a low ceiling. Office parks are sometimes possible, but building security can get in the way, so check with the property first. If you live in a deck-heavy part of town, the usual answer is to have the repair done at a house with a driveway, an open surface lot, or at work with permission.

He works Monday through Friday, about 9 to 5, and wraps up by about 2 on the hottest summer days. Most Charlotte customers are on his schedule within two or three days, sometimes the same day if he is already working in that part of town. He does not paint in rain or snow, so a wet forecast can move a day.

Common bumper and paint damage around Charlotte

The corner scuff from a tight parking space

Charlotte has no shortage of crowded shopping-center lots, and the front corners of bumpers take the brunt of it. Paint transfer and shallow scuffs on a corner are the most common thing Robert sees. They are usually a straightforward bumper repair done in your driveway.

Rock chips from the interstate

A daily run on I-77, I-85 or I-485 behind trucks and construction traffic leaves the hood and front bumper peppered with small chips. Robert fills and touches them up so they stop catching your eye and stop exposing bare material. See paint chip repair.

The garage door, the mailbox, the brick column

Plenty of bumper damage happens at home, backing out at an angle or misjudging a column. A crack under about 6 to 8 inches is usually repairable with plastic welding. The guide on whether a cracked bumper can be repaired explains where the line is.

A fender bender with another driver

Two cars, a little contact, no one wants to file a claim. Robert does not handle insurance claims, but he does handle repairs where the at-fault driver pays, and he works between the two drivers to get it done.
