Cloudy & yellowed lenses

Headlight Restoration in Charlotte, NC

Headlight restoration

Cloudy headlights make an otherwise cared-for car look tired. When the haze is on the outside of the lens, Robert can restore it in your driveway.

Headlight lenses are plastic, and years of sun break down their outer surface. The result is the yellow, foggy look that creeps up so slowly you don't notice it until you see the car next to a newer one.

Headlight restoration removes that oxidized outer layer and brings back clarity. It's one of the jobs Robert does in the same visit as a bumper repair or on its own.

What restoration can fix

Restoration works on haze and yellowing on the outside of the lens. Robert cleans and refinishes the lens surface so it's clear again. Doing both headlights together keeps them matching.

What it can't fix

If the problem is inside the lamp, no amount of work on the outside will fix it. Condensation or water droplets inside the lens, a cracked housing, broken mounts, a burned-out bulb, and wiring faults aren't oxidation.

Deep deterioration can also limit how clear a lens will get. If a lens looks like it's past restoring, Robert will tell you a replacement headlight is the better answer.

Why the photos should show both headlights

Seeing both lenses side by side shows how bad the haze is and whether one is worse than the other. A close-up and a side angle help show whether the cloudiness is on the surface or inside.

How Robert handles headlight restoration, step by step

  1. Text a front photo showing both headlights, plus a close-up of the haze.
  2. Robert confirms the cloudiness looks like surface oxidation and quotes.
  3. He restores the lenses on site, usually both at once.
  4. You pay when it's done.

What affects a headlight restoration result

  • How deep the oxidation goes into the lens.
  • Whether there's moisture or damage inside the lamp.
  • Cracks or chips in the lens surface.

When headlight restoration isn't the right fix

  • Moisture or fog inside the headlight
  • Cracked housings or broken mounts
  • Bulbs, wiring, or electrical faults
  • Lenses too deteriorated to restore

A replacement headlight from a parts supplier, the dealer, or a body shop is the fix for internal damage. A mechanic or the dealer handles electrical faults.

How long headlight restoration takes

Headlight restoration is a short job, done well within three hours on site.

Headlight restoration FAQs

Can you fix yellow, cloudy headlights?

Yes, when the haze is on the outside of the lens. Robert restores the surface so the lens is clear again.

There's water inside my headlight. Can you fix that?

No. Moisture inside the lamp isn't something restoration can fix. That headlight usually needs to be replaced.

Should I do both headlights?

Usually, yes. Restoring them together keeps them looking the same.
