Side Mirror Repair in Charlotte, NC

Side-view mirror repair

Side mirrors stick out, so they get clipped. Often the damage is cosmetic: a scraped, painted cap on a mirror that otherwise works fine. That's the part Robert repairs.

A side-view mirror packs a lot into a small space: a painted cap, a housing, glass, and often a turn signal, camera, heater, or power-fold motor. When a mirror gets hit, the first job is figuring out which of those parts actually broke.

If it's the painted outside of the mirror, that's cosmetic repair. If the glass, the mount, or any of the electronics are damaged, the answer is usually a replacement part.

Cosmetic mirror damage

Scrapes and chips on the painted mirror cap are the most common mirror damage, and they're cosmetic. They're repaired and refinished like any other painted part, with color matched to the car.

Cosmetic cracks in the outer shell can sometimes be repaired too, depending on where they are and whether the shell still holds together.

When a mirror needs replacing

Cosmetic repair can't fix a camera, blind-spot warning, heater, turn signal, or power-fold fault. A broken mount or a mirror that flops loose usually means the assembly needs to be replaced.

Cracked mirror glass is a replacement part as well. Tell Robert which features your mirror has and whether they still work, and he'll tell you whether the job is his.

How Robert handles side mirror repair, step by step

  1. Text photos of the whole mirror from the front and back, plus the base where it meets the door.
  2. Include the year, make, and model, which side, and whether every feature still works.
  3. Robert tells you whether it's cosmetic repair or a replacement part, and quotes the cosmetic work.

What affects a side mirror repair result

  • Whether the damage is on the painted cap or deeper in the mirror.
  • Whether the shell is cracked through or still holds together.
  • Whether signals, cameras, heaters, or folding motors are affected.

When side mirror repair isn't the right fix

  • Electrical faults: cameras, signals, heaters, blind-spot warning, power fold
  • Broken mounts or a mirror that hangs loose
  • Cracked mirror glass

A replacement mirror assembly from the dealer, a parts supplier, or a body shop is the fix for these.

How long side mirror repair takes

Mirror cap work is a small job, done well within three hours on site, often alongside another repair.
